The Mock Trial Team is an after school activity that engages students in acting, public speaking, and higher order thinking. Students learn courtroom procedures and facts about the American justice system by participating in simulated court cases in inter-school competition. Professional attorneys volunteer their time assisting the students in looking polished and acting professional in a courtroom setting. Tryouts are held for the team in early November. The team practices approximately 2 days per week (sometimes on the weekends) usually later in the evening (6pm to 8pm) to accommodate the attorneys' schedules. The Regional Competition is held in late February. If the team wins at the Regional level, the season is extended and the team will compete at the Sate level. Students who participate have the opportunity to earn a Varsity "letter" in Mock Trial. Letters and awards are present at the team's end of the season banquet.
The Northview High School sponsors of the 2007-2008 Mock Trial team are Jason Weinberger and Elizabeth Gathers.
