NORTHVIEW MOCK TRIAL
2015 STATE CHAMPIONS

Advisor:
Elizabeth Lake

About Mock Trial:

Mock Trial is not a club; it’s a team. The Mock Trial Team is an after school activity that engages students in acting, public speaking, and higher order thinking. Students learn courtroom procedures and facts about the American justice system by participating in simulated court cases in inter-school competition. Professional attorneys volunteer their time assisting the students in looking polished and acting professional in a courtroom setting.
Tryouts are held for the team in late November. The team practices several times a week in addition to our weekly full-group practice. The Regional Competition is held in late January or early February. If the team places in the top 3 at the Regional level, the season is extended and the team will compete at the District level at the beginning of March. If the team wins District, the team moves on to the State level in mid-March.
The Northview High School teacher coach is Elizabeth Lake. Our attorney coaches are Paul Dietrick, Jim Stewart, and Denise Abramow.
The Northview team was founded during the 2006 season.
