News Release

School system invites community to hear plans for new high school. The Fulton County School System will hold a community meeting to discuss a new high school to be built in Johns Creek.  The meeting will be held October 25, 7 p.m., at Autrey Mill Middle School, 4110 Old Alabama Road, Alpharetta.  School system representatives will share site plans, draft designs, and timelines.

More than 80,000 students attend 90 schools in the cities of Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Mountain Park, Palmetto, Roswell, Sandy Springs, and Union City. The district also serves students in unincorporated Fulton County.

Governor Sonny Perdue and State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox today released the names of the 25 Georgia schools with the highest SAT scores. More than half of Fulton County’s high schools appeared on the list, the most of any school system in Georgia.

On August 28, The College Board released 2007 SAT scores. In Fulton County, the total combined score was 1589, a nine-point increase over the previous year’s score. It also was higher than the state average by 117 points and the national average by 78 points.

Scores are reported in a range of 200-800 points for a total possible score of 2400. The 2007 test marks the 14th consecutive year that Fulton has maintained or improved its overall scores.
