Hands On Northview
Hands On Northview are days of service in which students, parents, faculty,
and community members join together to improve the appearance of our school.
Held each fall and spring, volunteers plant flowers, trees, and make other
improvements to the school grounds.
Care of the Building
The Northview facility is one of the finest in the nation. Students are expected
to support and cooperate with the custodians regarding care of the building.
Open containers of food or drink should only be present in the food court
or courtyard. Pride is to be taken in keeping the building and grounds ready
for inspection at all times. Trash cans have been placed in the corridors
for student use. Hands On Northview are workdays held in the fall and spring
that bring together students, parents, and community members for the common
purpose of making Northview a better school through improvements to the school
grounds.
Off-Limits Areas
The stadium, athletic fields, parking lots, canopy areas, auditorium, and gyms
are off limits to students during school hours unless under the supervision
of a teacher. While students are on lunch break, all academic halls and the
bus canopy are off-limits. Students are welcome to meet in the commons areas
and courtyard before school, between classes, and during lunch. The media
center, counseling office, food court, and main office are also easily accessible
to students throughout the day.
School Safety
Zone
A School Safety Zone is defined by the School Safety and Juvenile Reform Act
of 1994 as in, or within 1,000 feet of any property owned or leased by a school
board. Criminal activity in a School Safety Zone results in enhanced penalties
for violators.
Open Gym
The Auxiliary Gym is available each morning, 8:00 am –8:25 am, for open
gym. No food or drinks are allowed in the gymnasium. This is the only time
students are permitted in the gym for free play. Basketballs will be provided;
students are not to bring personal basketballs to school.
