The Reflections Theme for 2007-2008 is
“I Can Make a Difference By....”

Reflections is a national PTA cultural arts program that provides students an opportunity to explore a theme and interpret it through visual arts, photography, literature, musical composition and new this year, dance choreography, film and video production.
Now in its 37th year, the Reflections program attracts an average of 600,000 to 700,000 participants from across the country.

Reflections features a competition judged at the local school, district, state and national levels. Entries are judged on artistic merit, creativity and interpretation of the theme. Northview High School has had a great number of students winning district, state and national awards.

Why participate in Reflections?

Participating in Reflections is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. As young people experience the creative process, they learn to analyze their thoughts, feelings, and ideas. They learn to look at things, people and experiences in a fresh and exciting way, and become more interested in the ideas and works of others. The goal of Reflections is participation. The program also features an art competition, judged at several levels.

How to participate in Reflections?

Reflections entries can be developed in school or at home. Although many students may be working on a Reflections entry with their teacher as a component of study, please keep in mind that their is no limit on the number of entries that a student can submit. We encourage all students to enter in more than one category. All works, whether created at home or at school, must conform to the rules and be submitted with a completed entry form for each entry. Each entry must be the work of one student only. Only new pieces inspired by this year's theme are acceptable.

The Reflections packets can be found in the media center. The deadline to submit the entries is October 15, 2007.
Many of the reflections entries, including the national winners, are now on display at High Museum of Art. The first Sunday of every month is free for Fulton County residents, so stop by and see past winners' fabulous works!
