Guidelines

  • Students should only consider taking online courses if they cannot take the course in their regular class schedule, Night School, and/or Summer School. The counselor reserves the right to approve or deny any request.

According to policy on online programs, courses required for graduation and requiring an End of Course Test (EOCT), must be taken in the student's schedule (Algebra 1, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology, Economics, U.S. History, 9th grade Literature & Composition, and American Literature & Composition). If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent the student from taking the course in their schedule, then it can be taken through Georgia Virtual High School or Fulton County Virtual School dependant upon pre-approval by Mr. Zervakos, Principal and Dr. Macris, Curriculum Director. This is to ensure that the student is following the curriculum needed to pass the EOCT .

    · Students who are approved to take a course online that has an End of Course Test for that course must take the test to receive a grade for the course (online course grade = 85% of final grade and EOCT = 15% of final grade). There are eight End Of Course Tests: Algebra 1, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology, Economics, U.S. History, 9th grade Literature & Composition, and American Literature & Composition

    · Option for students considering Home school.

    · Only one online course can be taken per semester during the school year . Two online courses may be taken during the summer. (0.5 units of credit per semester during the school year and 1.0 unit credit in the summer)

    · Students must meet with their counselor to fill out an “Off Campus Course Request Form” before signing up for an online course.

    · Students should seek their counselor's approval for courses from a program not on the approved online programs list below.

    · Must take the exams at Northview High School under staff supervision during school hours only (student is responsible for making the arrangements with the counselor or faculty member)
