Free SAT Prep for Public High School Students
Governor Sonny Perdue and Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox
have unveiled the state’s new free online SAT prep class designed
to increase student readiness
for the SAT. Created by the College Board, the Official Online SAT Prep Course
is available at no cost to all public high school students in Georgia.
Fulton
County School System encourages students in grades nine through
twelve to use this new online resource and to begin practicing
today. The
course may be accessed directly from the Georgia Department of Education
website http://www.doe.k12.ga.us or www.satonlinecourseschool.com.
Students may access the Online SAT Prep
Course Program 24 hours a day. Course features:
- 18 interactive lessons (some with multimedia content);
- Six full-length, official SAT practice tests;
- Over 600 practice questions, which follow SAT specifications;
- Explanations of answers to all questions;
- Automated essay scoring; and
- Personalized score reports for students; detailed student, class, school, and district-level reports for educators.
“We applaud Georgia’s initiative to promote equal educational opportunity
by making the online course available to its students,” said Gaston Caperton,
president of the College Board. “We are hopeful that other states will follow
Georgia’s lead in making college preparation for all students a top priority.”
At the request of Governor Sonny Perdue and State School Superintendent
Kathy Cox, the Georgia Legislature appropriated $1,000,000 to provide the
College Board Online SAT Prep course to 9th through 12th grade students enrolled
in Georgia’s public high schools. Georgia is the first state in the nation
to provide this resource to all of its public high school students.
How do students register?
To access the online course, students must create a collegeboard.com account.
Your collegeboard.com user name and password serve as your online course
user name and password. To register for the online course, access this website
and complete the following steps:

1. Click on the Register Now link in the Student
Registration box, located
on the right-hand side of the Login screen. You will be asked for your School
Code 111148.
2. Enter your School Code, and click the Submit button. The College Board
Sign Up screen will appear.
3. If you already have a collegeboard.com account, login using your collegeboard.com
user name and password. Otherwise, click the Sign Up button in the Not
a Member Yet? area of the screen, and follow the instructions to create your
collegeboard.com account. You will use this account whenever you log into
The Official SAT Online Course.
4. Once you have created your account, you will be prompted to select your
class. If you have not been assigned a specific class, please select the
independent study class. Make your selections and click the Submit button
to proceed to The Official SAT Online Course home page.
Note: If you select the wrong class, your teacher can move you into the correct
one.
What are the key course features?
- Six practice tests and 600+ questions, all of which follow proprietary new SAT specifications.
- Detailed personalized feedback on all practice tests and quizzes, allowing students to focus on areas needing improvement.
- Eighteen interactive lessons, which cover the new SAT math, critical reading, and writing sections, as well as the new PSAT/NMSQT. The lessons feature
interactive activities and multimedia content to create an engaging learning environment.
- Explanations of answers to all questions on the online course, including why the wrong answers are incorrect.
- Auto essay scoring provides immediate, computer-generated scores for all essay prompts in the online course.
